    I personally use this http://www.uribag.com/

If I don't want to get out (e.g. Amazon jungle, dark, critters on the floor etc...)

Grap the uribag, open it up, sit up, put it in, do your thing, close the cap, get the used pee bottle/bag in a peak bag type of thing/gearhammock, ground, fall back, cover with top quilt an dream on....

Its unnatural to do it on your back but can be done. I use the little john as well. I have also leaned off the edge! I make sure that I place my gear on the uphill side of my hammock and handle business on the downhill side!

Verified, my friend. They are the bags us newspaper carriers use to bag papers on rainy days so our customers get thier morning news nice and dry. Reverse the concept and they work great. I was a bit nervous about using them single layer, so next time I'll just double one up as I need it. You can carry 100 of them in a pocket (empty of course) without noticing any weight. And I get a box of 3000 for $15. If you triple them up and tie them off securly after use, I think you could easily use them as a hot water bottle on those cold nights. Maybe I should do a video.....

Interesting timing on this thread, I posted this earlier today...

Just throwing my two cents in...

Here's the scenario: Early spring canoe trip, temperatures just below freezing, howling winds, bottom entry HH, shock-cords of full-length down underquilt synch'd tight to eliminate any air spaces. Now add several cups of tea, some time and waking to an extreme bladder evacuation emergency. Imagine, if you will, the ensuing panic as the trapped hanger struggles desperately, frantically clawing, swearing and praying to get past that underquilt to sweet, sweet relief.

First thing I did when I got home after that trip was install a DIY Mod4 (full-length both sides/double zipper one side) on my HH Expedition, leaving the bottom entry intact.

I now use the zippers exclusively. I left the bottom entry as an option, but never use it. I really like the ability to unzip and reach out to access gear, water or whatever. I like the ability to lay out my sleeping gear before getting into the hammock. I also find packing more efficient, as I use my unzipped hammock as a gear sling. If the bugs are really bad, I can always opt for the bottom entry, but so far, I haven't had to.
As you can see, I just get up at night and take a whizz at a nearby tree. My conversion to a zipper mod allowed me to do this much more effectively. I found the idea of using a pee bottle while tenting managable, but the idea of doing it in a hammock makes me very nervous.

    Funny about the timing...

Sure as heck don't think i can pee lying on my back.... Anyhow, someone please enlighten me....
It is risky ....and please don't ask me how I know this.

I gave up on it. One morning a friend thought it was gatorade and took a nip (true story). I also got tired of the gymnastics involved in contorting the body to the side. And the thought of landing in your urine. Phewwww. I just use Depends undergarmets now. Problem solved.
