Yes side zip is the only option, bottom entry does not appeal to me at all.

    Hey NewMike

Welcome to the forums from Oshawa, Ontario. What part of the province are you located in? As Chard mentioned we do have an active group of hangers that get together with some regularity. It is getting into winter camping season for some of us so if you are up to it, keep your eyes out in the trip planning area of the forum for upcoming group hangs.

    Cheers

    Brian

    Hey newmike,

If you haven't done so already, check out Shug's Hammock How-To series and some of other winter videos. I've found that winter hammocking just an extension of early spring/late fall hanging. I use all of the same gear and just throw in an extra blanket under my topquilt.

I'm sure that if posted the specs of your full outfit, you'd get plenty of excellent feedback on making it winter-rated. As a last option, if you joined us on one of our winter hangs, I'm sure we could McGyver something out of a few extra sleeping bags thrown in the into back of our cars. Finally, if you haven't winter-camped before, don't forget the importance of bringing appropriate personal clothing and footwear.

KW isn't far from where our winter hangs have been (Valens Conservation area) so even if you can't stay the night you are certainly welcome to come out to see some of the set ups and meet some nice people.

Welcome from NS. Just in case you don't get one from Santa there is a good chance there will be some good sales on during the winter months.

(I don't expect you to wait though, I wouldn't either!)
