    Funny Newbie move.

Well decide to take my hammock to the local lake and bring my wife along.
Since its freezing out here at 27 deg (I have california weather in my blood)
I took the tent and heater along with fire wood... The idea was to hang out try out my new uq and take a nap.

Everything set up and good to go on two old trees.
    Precision entrance and loud THUMP
as I managed to roll over the other side.
Everything was in slow motion similar to a looney toones cartoon..

I have done this may time on the hammock at home have no clue why or how i end up on the ground.

My wife and some folks next to me came over to check on me I was still laughing at the sky with my feet being the only things on the hammock.

I felt like a big ol kid on the ground...... Straps were still up.
Got back off could not shake the laugh.

It won't be the last time, I'd wager, though it might be the last time you hit the ground in that particular manner.

I think just about everybody who's got more than a few nights in a hammock has had their suspension drop them on the ground at least once.

I've done it twice, once the rope I was using for a quick test hang in the yard was woefully under rated and dropped me on my butt while my wife, at the kitchen window doing dishes, laughed hysterically. The other was my first night using straps and D rings.

I started out with the hammock hung unusually high for a couple different reasons. I got into the hammock, settled in to my TQ, rolled over and closed my eyes, and got the strangest sensation I was falling...slowly.

I had forgotten to tie a half hitch above my D rings, and they very gently lowered me in to the 8" of snow on the ground. I was using a pad, and I seriously debated just staying there because I was already warm, but the tarp wasn't blocking much wind down that low, so I opted to venture out of the hammock to make repairs.

If - if he stood! Enough of ifs!
He knew a path that wanted walking
He knew a spring that wanted drinking
A thought that wanted further thinking.
    A love that wanted re-renewing

Grab one side (and only one side) of the hammock in one hand and use your other hand to spread the rest of the fabric out behind you as you sit down.

Grab two sides or the UQ by mistake and you're headed to the ground. Don't ask how I know.

I always try to ease my way in the hammock for that very reason. At least you were able to get a laugh.

I have never really rolled out of my hammock. Have had the strap break on one of my old GI Jungle hammocks once. It was about 50 years old.

I hit the dirt (hard) two times in two minutes due to user error. Most people learn the first time, but it takes me at least two

I also had my daughter push over my turtlelady hammock stand while I was still in it.

Yup! Just waiting for my next near-ground experience
You're gonna need a bigger hammock
