Side by Side: WL full down and HG 20 degree inucbator

Im not going to compare the dimensions or down weight etc. as all that information can be found on the independent websites or by asking the owner/operator.

    Wilderness Logics Full down quilt

    Hammock Gear 20 degree incubator

This is merely to present the two side by side to compare construction and build quality. The WL full down UQ is new to Marty's line-up within the past couple off weeks.

Outer shell, HG quilt on top and WL quilt on bottom.

Inner shell, HG quilt on top, WL quilt on bottom.

Shock cord detail on one end, HG on top, WL on bottom.

Edge detail, this is the same corresponding area on either quilt.

Laid out, showing inner shell, HG on right, WL on left. For scale, they are laying on a king size bed.

Outer shell, HG on right, WL on left.

In their stuff sacks, WL on left, HG on right. The stuff sack from WL is larger than the one from HG. However, the WL quilt will easily fit into the HG stuff sack. So I believe both can be compressed just a bit more if needed.

I will have some suspended pictures later today.

Thanks for the pictures. I have been looking at both UQs and have not been able to make up my mind yet on which to get.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Great start to a review Opie, one thing should be noted though is the new design of the incubator has a designated head and foot end, the chambers/baffles are narrower on the foot end and wider on the head end! Also the new design can be easily seen when hung under hammock (or by itself)! So I'm not sure which side you showed in your pic's(looked like foot end) and if you switched it throughout your pic's?

If yours is the older model then never mind, hehe!?

For those needing more info you can click on the link that Opie provided and you will see it!

Good comparison picts Opie. I hope you will continue your review.

The first thing I noticed is the HG UQ had ~double the number of baffles. (pict#3)
I would think this would really help keep the down in place not allowing any down shifting causing cold spots.

I dont think its double. HG site states 9 baffles for the incubator. I counted 7 on the WL quilt just going from the picture, Ill get an actual when I hang it up outside.

The orientation of the quilts never changed, other than when I flipped them over to get inside and outside shots. And I flipped them width wise, not end to end.

Good point on the version of the Incubator.. It is the most recent design, as its been in my hands less than 2 weeks.

And Andrews new Lite Owl. This way he has his "own" hammock.

Nice comparison. I picked up the WL FL and slept with it for the first time this past weekend. Temp still not low enough yet, 49 degrees. But loved the UQ so far. I don't own a HG UQ for comparison, but I'll be following your continued review with interest.
