Tarps and high winds, any tarp damage?

This past weekend, our Scout troop attended a Fall Camporee. Do to a lot of rain over the few days prior, we were moved to a field, with no wind break. The forcast was for wind gust over 45mph. I don't know just how high the gust were, but I can't remember the last time we had that strong of a wind, without a tropical storm to power it. I had my DIY camo tarp, but did not hang it do to the winds. I used my Kelty Noahs 9 and some BWDD Aluminum Y stakes (DIY Gear Supply). I few time I had a stake pull out, but other than that all was good.

Has anyone else been in stong wind with either a Silnylon or better yet a cuben and survived without a damaged tarp?

Oct 1st weekend hanging at 5300 ft at Balsam Mt. in the Smokies,,more than 40mph gusts, with 10' x 12' OES and Wilderness Logics Oldman Winter hung together,,me and the wife enjoyed our hang with no stakes pulled out or any damages period,,key is to stake them down to the ground and close the ends as much as possible and your good to go. If you let wind get under or thru a tarp,,its going to act like a sail and grab all the wind it can.

    Tarps & high winds

A bunch of HF folks spent the Oct Northern Hang on the Superior Hikung Trail with on the scene recorded wind speed in the low 30's as well as NWS stated wind gusts of 35+. I was using for the first time the HammockGear cuben fiber tarp and this tarp with stood lots of wind abuse and no obvious signs of damage. The zing-it that I was using for guy lines didn't want to hold taut line hitches very well but after throwing and additional half hitch the knots held tension much better. We had over 36 hours of constant steady wind along with frequent high wind gusts that sounded like freight trains coming through the woods. Our hammocks would sway with these gusts. I also could hear the guy and ridge lines vibrating in the wind. I have weather all sorts of weathwrnbackpacking but can't remember enduring such a long stretch of windy weather. Again the HammockGear cuben fiber held it's own without damage. Also note I did not have any elastic built into my guy lines so both the tarp tie outs and fiber took allnthe abuse. I will be adding shock cords in the future.
Fronkey shot a short piece on my tarp set up for this trip in his post regarding the Northern Hang.

MY DIY tarp worked fantastic through those strong winds bluejeans was referring too. I did improvise on some things because I was worried my stakes wouldn't hold up in the ground. So, I found heavy rocks and logs to tie my tarp too. But, all no tears in my baby.

With my Kelty, I had it in the diamond with the outer ends staked. I also had 4 mason line whoopies, 2 on each side, to help hold it down.

Nice to hear that with these nice tarps you have, none were damaged.

I've had both a Superfly and an OES Deluxe (both sil) in winds that were a lot more than I was comfortable with at the time. There be some mighty stiff winds at altitude! Out here, sometimes you can set camp on the 'right' side of the mountain on windy days/nights. However, many times I awake only to discover that the 'right' side, has become the 'wrong' side. So far (knocking very hard on wood right now), I haven't paid any consequences for it. Sil stretches nicely and I think can absorb a lot of abuse, assuming you aren't facing the wind head-on with a side-panel anyway.

I've had figure9s lose grip and I've had them bend to the point of being useless, but my tarps, they still fly proud!
