This is arrowhead equipments cinch buckles. He says you cant use it on a hennessy hammock. I know you can, but you need to replace his chain link with one of your own that is longer. Warbonnet's buckles will require the same mod. You can buy a few feet of amsteel and create the loops using ether an end to end splice to create a continuous loop of amsteel (as AHE does), or a triple fisherman's knot (as Warbonnet does). Hope i explained that well enough.

I did the WB way with the knot.
Only issue I ran into was the end cover that comes with the HH
doesn't fit over the buckles so I added a few slices and zip tied it back on
till I can make something better.
And using this method I found that 33 inches of cord was about perfect.
Could probably go a little shorter with a continuous loop.

Place the cover on the loop first then thread it to the hh like you would the fixed eye in a whoopie sling. Retains the cover and you can remove the buckles w/o having to cut anything.

I tried that, its more trouble than its worth to get the cording back through the second time (doubled up) because the end of the loop has to go over the rings to lock it in place. Then you need to feed some back through to tighten it back up. It will be easy enough to just make a new wrap for the end.
But for now what I did works fine.

The knot also gets in the way but again might be better with a continuous loop.. I just copied the WB way because it was easy and I have seen it work and had something to reference to.

I wonder why no one just cuts off the stock rope, leaving enough to make into a loop? That is how ENO and others do theirs. I thought about doing this someday, I don't want to open up the stock hennessy gathered end. I don't want to see how the sausage is made.

I tried that the first time. Rope is to stiff to loop through and function properly. Even welded up a bit of round stock steel, painted em, and tied off the knot to keep the HH line. It worked, but took forever, and it didn't look that great. First pic is of the welded cinch buckles, second is with Amsteel.

If I just cut the hammock end off of my existing whoopie sling and make an amsteel loop directly into the buckles like Gary R (post #12) did, do I risk cutting the rope due to the limited contact/low radius area of the buckles?

Having once been dumped on the ground in the middle of the night when my Night IZE figure 9 cut cut through the stock HH line ---before I switched to the whoopie slings--- I am not in a hurry to have that experience again, LOL!

Just completed my HH conversion to 1" webbing yesterday. Using Dutch clips, Dutch buckles and 7/64th Amsteel continuous loop.

Decided not to use whoopie slings to attach the hammock. But made a 24" continuous loop instead to hook over the Dutch buckle. Seems like it is going to work ok. Easy to adjust, and easy to store, now that the Dutch buckles have a built-in elastic to hold the webbing in place when not in use.

1" webbing won't fit through the holes. If it helps I documented my conversion to whoopies. I also did the same conversion only using a whoopie extender. One end went through the holes and the other had the rings. Oh, and they're DEscender rings, not AScender rings. I got mine from REI.

So...I'm curious...did you ever find out what specifically was slipping, where?

The adjustable loop of the whoopie sling?

The attachment to the HH body?

The MSH knot or where the whoopie went over that knot?

I just put whoopies on my HH...the last thing I want is to create issues I've not had up to this point.
