    Guy Line Attachement Idea

I ran across these guy lines I made for an old tarp.

I've never seen anything done like this before, so I thought I'd share.

I guess these would be kind of like an attached soft shackle of sorts?

The beads provide a little place to grab when loosening/tightening and also something for the slippery eye to cinch around.

Still trying to figure it out. May be tired old eyes. How is the other end finished?

Cool. Olddog, it looks like an overhand not that tightens on the end piece and the bead is a stopper. The second white bead looks like it holds the overhand knot from tightening on itself and I have no idea that the green bead and the second overhand knot is for.

Correct. The green bead helps me identify which end of the line is fixed, so I know which end to loosen. To detach from my rig I grab the green bead and pull the white bead to loosen the eye and the gray bead is released.

I don't think you need the green bead, but it did help me alot when figuring out which end of the loop to pull through when loosening. Without the white bead (actually glow in the dark) it would be difficult to loosen the eye when it is tightened behind the gray bead.

Sorry if this is confusing. Obviously an s-biner is easier, but I didn't have them at the time and didn't want to buy 12 of them.... plus I keep loosing the dang things.

There is one slippery knot that creates the loop and the rest of the knots are just to keep the beads in place.

This is just to show another option to attach guylines to a tarp. The other end can be used however you want, with figure 9's, line locs, prusiks or whatever else you can dream up. I don't typically use this technique, but it is original and I lost most of my s-biners AGAIN, so I might just go back to this method. After all, I'm not trying to steal my beads constantly for all my other projects.

I think this is a great little device, if it can be called such. Its a field expedient option if you drop a figure 9 or a tarp flyz in long grass and can't find it. Thanks a lot for showing this JBizzle.

    Thank you!

Maybe I'll put more picture up later. This is a fixed length option to attach a line to something else. There is no adjust ability to this one.

So this would be a carabiner/s-biner/girth hitch replacement, not a flyz or figure 9 replacement.
