I would like to make use of an extra mummy bag and convert it to a TQ, there must be a post here somewhere, could someone help me find it.

I just converted a 12 year old marmot helium 15f 775 long down bag to a top quilt. I did roughly the same thing that JohnSawyer describes in his thread.
It worked great as a mummy bag, but I haven't zipped it up in years and I always overheat when using it because It only has a half zip. Weighed 2.5 pounds before the conversion and a flat 2 pounds after the conversion.
I should be able to use it down to 15F still. We shall see.
The whole conversion took me about 3 hours. I broke a few needles and the sewing is pretty sloppy, but she will hold. And now I have the odd stray feather floating through my house.
