Need advice for a PL pod

hey, some of you may have read about my Poncho Liner greenhouse I made whilst in santee, and I was wondering if anyone can give me any tips on how to make this a little better

lets say i want to make this into a sock of a sort. i have a few ideas id like to stick too, but i wanted to outline here and see what YOU would do.

    my idea is this:

*poncho liner hung under the RL on my ENO.
*the liner is just a bit too short to fully cover the hammock, which works to help vent. i had the vent at the head end on my trial with good results.
*i want to use it with a UQ or not, without squishing the UQ if i do use it.
*side entry would be better for me, and id like to keep the whole thing in place until it gets taken down and packed.
*the bottom doesnt have to be insulative, but it would be nice.

so, my idea to accomplish this was to either take flat elastic straps and sew them to the sides of the PL, possibly using Omni tape so it can still be used as a blanket if needed.

I had thought of using either full length stretchy fabric or shock cord, but the fabric wouldnt let it be side entry or a blanket and the shock cord is usually stiff and thin, which could cause pressure points.

what you guys think? or should i just use it as is?

also, do you think the same insulative properties can be had with just straight ripstop, some heavy stuff??

canvas is kinda heavy (but you can ask Capt Smiley on the canvas stuff) and the PL can pull double duty as a normal blanket. i think ill just toss it up and experiment....

Rev, I'm thinking of doing the same thing w a Driducks poncho. Alpha did it w a military PONCHO which is big enuf to just drape over the RL. Most nonmilitary ponchos are about 55x80. This is also about the dimmensions of the parallelogram created when you lay diagonal in a hammock. Instead of a simple drape I think i will have to add snaps to attach the PONCHO to the hammock.

hmmm ive seen randy with one of these type things. I dont know what type of poncho it is but hopefully he will chime in or you could message him.
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

I would take the PL UQ, move the end-channels to just 1/2 the PL, and flip the other end over the top...

Shouldn't be much of a mod from how it is today... Given the length, I don't think it'll be big enough to go under the hammock and over the ridgeline...

i think im going to get a set of these (bed sheet straps) to start with, and just use 2 close to the ends to make it pull tighter somewhat. point is not for it to be insulative on the bottom, since i have a UQ now, but be more of a windblock and insulation on the top. using them near the ends will also allow for side entry.
