i have just bought my second new river. my wife took the first one i bought, she has nothing but good things to say about it.
i have a 14" piece of shock cord with mini beiners on each end that i put over my ridge line and hook to the first set of loops by my feet. it keeps the quilt from popping off my feet. i larkshead it to the ridgeline and can make one side shorter. the shorter side goes to the foot side keeps the quilt from getting pushed under my feet.
i guess this means i've stopped lurking.

    Question for ya Anigatogewi...

I'm going on a 3 day hike to Blood Mountain in about 2 weeks. I'm thinking about getting the new river. But I am very new to hammocking, camping period... Especially in colder weather. Do you use any sort of TQ or bag with the new river? I'm guessing it won't be any colder than 35-40. But i don't want to be unprepared.

At the temps that you have listed I would highly recommend that you carry a temp rated TQ as well. I have several of the NR UQ's and a DIY Jarbridge UQ's and they will take you to the temps you going to experience. As a side note you can use a New River as a TQ as well, I did this and slept comfortably to around freezing in just my base layer thermals. Good luck in the search and have fun on the trail.
