Ok, I pulled the trigger and purchased a Blackbird and a Kelty Noah 12. I'm hoping that those show up soon so I can start playing. I'm in the planning stages of a late fall group back packing trip (Ok, man escape) next year, destination is still up in the air. I'm hoping to have everything ready for practice hangs in early spring. Being a newbie, I will have a lot of questions, so be patient with me. Hello everyone.

Welcome from New Jersey. I have a Blackbird and the Kelty 12 and they're a great combination. I think there is a Nebraska hang relatively soon so if you're close, attend that group hang as being able to see lots of different setups will answer a lot of questions. Oh yeah, it will drain your bank account too.

I wish I could go but my wife is pregnant and due any day. I figured I better get the more expensive items out of the way now. So far I got the Blackbird double and the Kelty Noah 12 tarp and got a Kelty Red Cloud 90 on sale for about $100 at a local store. I would like to get a Arrowhead Equipment Potomac UQ and the Bear Burrito Oven, and I need to figure out a decent sleeping bag. Like I stated earlier, I am hoping to do a test hang in early spring while the nights are still cold.
