    Cascade Designs thermarest hammock pad

I've been talking to the Military rep for Cascade Designs (He's got his display up at a World Wide Military Logistics Conference I'm attending).

I had Great Luck in decribing a pad that Cascade could design specifically for the Henessesy, and directed him to this site...

Hammockers have been experimenting for YEARS with designing a pad to go inside hammocks...so my idea was simple...design a pad in partnership with Tom Hennessy, a pad for the MILITARY...(read R&D funding).

It did not hurt to remind him that the military would want them, but so would THOUSANDS of Hammockers around the globe....

this was not a casual conversation, he's really going to pursue it....tomorrow I will take the gossamer pad I built to give him, so he gets the idea AND a sense of how hard the Hanging Community is trying to do this on our own.....

Specially formed to fit the cup shape of the hammock, slit with a velcro closure for entry and exit, and that mates to the hennessy velcro slits so it wont slide around or out of the hammock...a pad that will cover the entire nylon surface of the Hennessey interior....LIGHT WEIGHT.....

    UPdate:

Received an update by email from the Military Sales head at Cascade Designs, seems they like the idea of a pad for hammocks enough to do a market study...I'm suggesting they post a request for information here on Hammockforums.net...stand by for more info.....

    Yep...

Just like they make different pads for backpackers, different pads for different hammocks...i pointed out that there are many models....it didn't hurt that Afghan posted about his hanging in afghanistan...I sent them a link about how he said all his buds wanted hammocks bad, then said it got cold, and stated that now he wanted to use the hammock in a park he knows...

THAT post was almost tailor made to make my point to the design team.....

There is no need for a split in the foot of a thermarest for hennessy hammock. All you would need would be a strip of Omni Tape along the left edge of the bottom of the pad to correspond with the hammock entrance slit. This would properly position the pad to place the occupant on a diagonal as intended with the assymetrical design.

Correct! Been thinking about adding some velcro to do that very thing.
