A real plus when the bugs go away! I'm in the habit of adjusting my activities to the seasons. In Summer I stay wet through the heat in a kayak. And when it cools off it's time to hike and camp and play with all this fancy gear we buy!

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

Actually I enjoy fall & spring best (naturally). I also enjoy a fair amount of summer & winter too, I just get tired of the extremes of heat & cold.
Most of all, I'm glad for the change of seasons. I wouldn't want it to stay the same all the time. The change of seasons is refreshing!
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Went on a 13 mile day hike yesterday in the Smokies. It was about 37 degrees when I started--had on two layers of wool and my wool liner gloves as well. At least until I got walking and got warmed up. Met a fellow from Santa Barbara-he asked about hiking in the winter. I told him it was the best. Fewer folks, few to none on the bugs, less dripping on the sweat, more and more on the quiet. When the thermometer goes down my spirits go up!

I agree 100% that summer sucks. It's still "summer" down here in FL, but it's closer to the New England summers I grew up with.

That is, it's eighties during the day and sixties at night. Comfortable weather. Not, "It's so hot out that I'm surprised nobody's come to take my gold fiddle," weather.

In a couple of months it'll actually be Fall weather. And then Spring weather. And then Summer again. And then "Questionable Dimension" weather.

I know this is Va but in NC the same day was a record for earliest snowfall. Oct 4 or 5 was the previous record.
