How to use Primaloft or other synthetic

    Hey DIYers!
I am looking at the prices of down, and the current balance in my bank account, and the potential UQ and TQ that I am super excited to make, and all the factors aren't quite cooperating with each other...
So here is my question; with synthetics, they are sold by the yard, and I am wondering if you can tear it up and use it as you would down, stuffed in little bits in each baffle.
Is this something YOU would do? If not, would you just sew top layers and bottom layers to the synthetic?
    Thanks!

No, I would not use it like down. Usually a quilt is made by sandwiching the material between two layers of light weight nylon. Here is a link to the basic idea - many others exist out there.

Down isnt as expensive as you may think if your willing to do a little extra. You can find 700-850 fp luxury hotel pillows on amazon and ebay that are far less expensive per oz. I searched amazon yesterday and found 28oz of 750 for around $55. that's like $2/oz!!!. And heard of ebay snipers finding crazy deals that got it down $.30/oz. Only catch is you have repackage the down. which is a chore but it's a managable one.
However, if synthetic is your choice then sandwhich is the name of the game. Maybe add a differential cut and a quilting loop or 8 and you'll be right as rain.
