I was so impressed with the Night owl, and my current top insulation is/was a PITA... so I enlisted Marty to send me a king size top quilt.
It arrived today and I am very impressed. Admittedly this is my first top quilt and I haven't actually used it yet. Just laid on the bed for about 30 minutes trying different positions I normally toss around in prior to falling asleep.
The quality is top rate. You can see the attention to detail in the stitching and baffles. And immediately upon draping myself with the quilt on the bed, I began to get toasty warm. Marty includes a section of fleece that velcros on either side of the quilt where you would normally be breathing on it or where it would contact your chin or neck... Very nice touch and it is removable.
Size... Me, I am 6'4, 275#, size 11.5 shoe, 32" inseam and 40" waist, 52" shoulders (IIRC). There is plenty of room inside the quilt to move around. I was worried the foot box would be to cramped as I usually get claustrophobic in a true mummy type sleeping bag and had the feeling the same thing would happen with the TQ. Much to my surprise I did not feel cramped in the quilt and there was plenty of room to move my feet around and even switch the way I had them crossed. I was also able to pull either leg up while in the quilt and did not loose any coverage. I had enough length with the quilt to have my feet touch the bottom of the foot box and pull the top over my eyes while not feeling like I was over extending the quilt. He also includes what appears to be a cotton long term storage bag in the price of the quilt.
I will get measurements and pictures up this weekend of it inside the night owl. I am hoping to get some hang time with the kit if I can sneak away to the backyard.
Add onto all this Marty's customer service and I think hes got a good thing going. I would encourage anyone to check him out.
