I did this with one of my slings, but found that the amsteel was slippery enough that my normal stopper knots don't want to hold unless I burned/melted the end to help it hold.

To prevent the adjustable end from pulling into the bury, I've also tried making a small locked-brummel loop. I'll look for "stopper beads" now, though I don't know what they look like!

How about that. 10 seconds on Google and I know what a "stopper bead" is!

Tying a Knot in the whoopie sling will decrease the strength of the whoopie sling. Plus one of the neat things about the whoopie, IMO, is that there are no knots and yet it has an amazing holding power.

It happened to me this weekend, very annoying, but I managed to pull it out. I'll think I'll tie a short loop of paracord around the amsteel, that should be enough to prevent things like this to happen.

i just took a piece of rope maybe 2 inches and tied it around the adjustable loop neer the bury on the side of the loop that forms the outside of the bury. Its just a little knot but works great.

I actually broke off the stopper bead off one end of my whoopie. I used a small key ring (like the kind that comes on a small swiss army knife or those battery powered glow sticks) and worked it around the end so it couldn't bury itself again...just a suggestion...

It was really easy to insert, I just inserted my small needle nose pliers inside the center of the rope, to make sure that the gap was extra wide, and then I just inserted the one inch piece of amsteel into gap.

    I hope this makes sense.
I really like this idea. It will work just like the butt splice on the tail. It can easily be added to existing whoopies without having to take apart and rebuild them.

Did you taper both ends to avoid the abrupt diameter changes that have been reported to cause weakness in the amsteel?

Took me forever to find what I use online to show y'all. They are called crimp tubes and can be gotten at Joann's or Hancock's or any craft store. Check them out. They are cheep and work great and are very easy to find in the jewelry section.

A knot can create a failure point in the line and can be the first thing to break, or pop, or snap. That usually ends in a slam to the ground and a few ugly words.
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.

I did not taper both ends, since I did not know that it would cause weekness in the amsteel. Atleast the pieces are easy to take out with a set of pliers.

I am going to give it a try on a couple of sets of whoopies. Maybe we should call it a mouse as it will create just a slight "snake bulge" in the line.
