Anyone here do it? I am limited now on trees due to recent storms. I have used my honda civic and the corner of the porch when I have to have a night out.

40 nights out hammocking 2011...
I've been thinkin about a deal I can plug into my receiver hitch to tie to, then to a tree or post or whatever would be close enough. I figure I would have to brace it to my roof rack or somethin somewhere. Still just thinkin about it though.
This past weekend, I hung from the roof rack on my Suburban. I also hang IN it. I have a cheap hammock hanging inside that I can tuck out of my way when not in use. My son used it this past weekend. I use it nearly every day for a lunch time snooze.

Ambulo tua ambulo.
You can try this, park Honda next to porch, open Front Rear doors opposite of porch side, and run strap around center pillar at roof area, gently close door so as not to damage weatherstrip OR straps... lay tail end of strap across roof line. I would recommend either noodle from dollar tree (for pool) or canoe topper foam pad around strap so it doesn't cut into roofline paint. Attach Marlin Spike Hitch to tail end, then other Marlin Spike @ porch, hang hammock. I did similar at a park to demonstrate my hammock, only way to do in a parking lot lol.
Will not flip car over unless you are using an ENO Double with 6 200+ pound people in it.

I have the heavier duty premium FoMoCo rack on my Escape, but it says it's rated for 150# or less, and that is assuming you are putting the stress along the axes they designed it for.
Might hold you, might let go or warp the crap out of your roof.
Gotta ask, even though a little OT - how often do people in the east find that they can't hang from a tree or some kind of posts?
Hi there
I do this all the time... mostly around fishing lakes. If I can get my car close to the water side there is usually at least one tree I can use.
Big help when trees are thin on the ground or too far apart. Vastly increases the possibilities for setting up the hammock.
cheers

Here is a pic of my hang at our family camp trip last year! I had only one tree and the other support was my roof rack on my truck(which I don't have anymore)!
