    Special Olympics Oregon

I am planning a 24 hour (ish) hang at Broughton Beach from Feb 9th thru the 10th. I will be participating in the Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Oregon. I am on the "Super Plunge" team - we will be jumping into the Columbia River once an hour for 24 hours! My goal is to raise $3000 - 100% goes to Special Olympics Oregon. Here is my website if you care to contribute: www.portlandplunge.kintera.org/kurtisdrake My plan is to relax/sleep in a Trek Light Gear hammock in between plunges! I did this last year too (no hammock though) and it is an amazing experience. Help me reach my goal! Thanks, Kurtis (salem, or)

Restrooms available and plenty of Parking.
    YOU GOT RESTROOMS?!?!?! IN WINTER?!?!?!?

WE (MRHO) get a plastic port-a-privy. On ground like this ~ so it sort of rocks.

WOW, you guys are really roughing it,,,,,,, Not.

    Just kidding / jealous

I do SERIOUSLY wish I could go to both winter hangouts!!! Have a great time guys n gals! Take lots of pictures! Maybe someday we can all get together & compare notes.

I strongly suggest that If you can get to one or the other (Both?) & have always wanted to go winter camping, you will have a great time: No mosquitoes or other biting critters. The quiet will amaze you! The only people out are serious outdoor people, so no tourists. A group setting, close to easy escape, with experienced cold weather campers, is the BEST place to start.

Restrooms at Oregon snow park parking lots are pit toilets, with paper. Concrete masonry units for walls, nice roof, some light if there is any outside.

Not sure how we got down the road of out houses..
But this is what they look like none the less... Oregon does know how to maintain a good out house!

    Sorry, my bad!

I was shocked to read "Restrooms" cause ours in VA are locked & winterized.

Ya'll have a GREAT time,,,, with your fancy built in Privys.
