Really nice KLH. I think you'll find the climashield does wonders - IX really shines when it's properly layered with a synthetic insulation that has it's own loft. I'm amazed at how light it came out with two layers of IX AND Climashield AND a lower shell. Nice work!

I'm curious as to how well it compresses down. How small can you get it in a sack? All the great things I've read about it I can't seem to find out how the compressability or weight is versus a similar temp rated down quilt.

Insultex is a thin sheet of pourous foam between two layers of fabric. I can't say that it compresses, nor that it lofts. I just kinda roll it up and snap a strap around it. The Climashield however does compress very well.

The Insultex UQ is actually smaller in each layer. So each has a pocket to keep the air stagnant and warm from your body heat. so you can hang it snug up against the hammock and the layers will take care of your convection (I think thas is the right word).

K, that does look pretty good. I bet it's equal to a Shamu or Baby Orca in warmth and comfort rating. I've read around here that while IX itself doesn't compress, it isn't supper bulky to begin with. So, the conclusion I read was that it packs down to a similar size that a down item of similar weight & comfort rating. My experience with two different IX UQ would have to concur with that assesment.
