I don't mind it, although I'm going to try darts on my newest pad creation. I am actually gluing wings on the original pad. Keeps me very warm. I'm sure it's not as super comfy as a Uq but I sleep very well with this setup.

Several years ago, I put together this setup using the pads. A little different concept however. I had ZQ make slip covers in which the pads could be inserted. I had a torso section, leg section and two side wings. Each were covered with light camo material and velcroed to each other. In the torso section I could double up pads for winter use if required. Worked well and all fit into my Equinox Katahdin pack. It created a barrel in which everything else was placed.

How well do laced models roll up? I was surprised to find that two pieces don't roll up together very well.

With them glued, it rolls into the pack quite nicely. In fact, that's why I am sticking with a pad over Uq... It has made my Virga my favorite pack. And I sleep like a baby. This is my three season pad in pack and out of it. With my RAB TQ I can easily get to 30 degrees. I do sleep warm though.

They roll up just fine. I fold the wings in so they lay flat and roll with them on the inside. It's a lot smaller than 2 full pads together, but not as small as a single pad.

I have not had any luck getting mine to roll up well together with the wings folded in. I find that if you don't roll it too tight it works better. But untill my 20* incubator comes in I make it work

I just had the same idea, how ironic. I took a WM ccf, cut it in half width wise. Then sliced one piece down the center. Using a tarp needle, I stitched it all the way down with paracord. Paracord is thicker so it won't tear through, and it can be unlaced if you are in a bind and need cordage. The length is from by neck to just past my butt. If it is too cold on the legs, I bought another pad to put wings on a full length pad. Its pretty crude looking but im thinking it will work well.

The idea is that I can use it for two people in the doublenest. Hopefully it won't be too wide for me alone in the NANO7. Ill post some pics up when I can.

It doesn't roll up great, but it works.

Generous wings to compensate for any rolling.

Folded, it's as large as a regular pad.

This is about as tight as it rolls.
