    Blackbird 1.7 dbl review

Well, I decided to do a short video but well it sux but here it is. Audio is pretty bad I think and was in kind of a hurry. I plan to redo. But I did do one mod to my hammock you might find useful. (yeah i couldn't stand it had to pull out thread injector at least once). Please excuse the bad video and REDNECK VOICE.....LOL I am from Georgia you know.

First impression was WOW. Its even better than I expected. I'm 5'-11" and 245lbs. The 1.7 dble layer is perfect for me. I love the material. Yes, it is a little different than the feel of Silnylon but it wasn't what I expected. It still slick just not as much as sil. I didn't see a lot of difference in the weight comparison with the ENO double w/ net. Actually packed I couldn't tell a diff. at all on my back. It very light. Maybe a couple ounces diff. but I can handle that.

I'm going to try and do a more in depth review when I actually get out and a backpacking trip.

    Don't laugh to hard....lol

Is that the Winter Pomeranian or the 3-season? Nice looking hammock.

What's with the "S" biner pull outs? Did the WB come that way, or was it an addition that you did?

I think the S-biners are an add on he did so he can detach the side tie outs and flip the bug net over for open air use. I'm thinking about doing the same thing to mine.

Reeper, look up how to do a prussic (if you don't know already). You can ditch one of those 'biners on your yellow bag and put a prussic in it's place. The prussic will allow you to lock the bag in place on the ridge line wherever you want it, and it will stay till *you* move it.

Yeah sorry guys. What comes on the hammock is the little pullouts attached to the net to keep it pulled out. I'm trying to upload video to you tube but its taking for ever. It shows the difference. The part I modified was I sew the 2 seperate strips below the net along the zipper. With the S biners I can do it either way. Attach to neting when in use like its suppose to be or in winter when net is pulled back I can move the pullout cord via the sbiner to the bottom pullouts on the hammock itself. Sorry for the confusion. Video might clear up some. Did realize it was going to take so long to upload.

It's a great mod, and I think it's worth the extra few grams for the S-biners and being able to move the pullouts.

I think I'll do this myself this weekend, but I'm going to use the size 0 plastic S-biners that come on the Nite Ize key ring. I think they are small enough and light enough that I won't have to worry about any material damage while stuffed in a sack, but still strong enough as I like to string my blackbird up tight.

Lonely Raven: Yeah, thats what i'm going to use also. I just have had time to go get them. Those were the only S biners I had. The size 0 your talking about would work perfect. This mod really keeps the hammock open like the HH. I used Grossgrain (how ever you spell it).
