HH UL BP suspension and weight rating??

I recently purchased a hh ul backpacker for my son from another member here. He is very close to the 200lb weight rating. I talked with a Hennesy rep "off the record" and was told they pad the number a little to allow for equipment or gear in the hammock also (10%). So I ask was the weight rating "mostly" to do with the lighter suspension and if it was changed out would the rating go up. I was told "yes" but it was strongly suggested that I let them do the mod. I also know that the comfy 70d nylon might be part of the rating also. So my question is: would swapping the stock suspension out for a set of whoopies theoretically increase the weight rating of the hammock or would it be best to just leave it alone?

the suspension should be fine around that weight, Id say most of the rating is for the fabric strength. and I don't want to comment on someone I dont know but I seem to remember seeing a thread on here somewhere where someone tested the fabric and put weights on the hammock until it broke. but I do believe the hennessy will hold more than 200 maybe 50 more but you will definently lose comfort in the lay of the hammock.
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

It seems like a really well made hammock. I got in it and it lays just like my hh exp. del. except it's a little softer

I have a good friend that passed recently right after I swapped out his stock for whoopies. Another friend inherited the hammock and he is 6'2" going fer around 330+-. Been out about 5-6 times with no issue yet. Hope this helps. Making the swap is pretty easy. There is a thread on the forum with pics describing the process but I can't search on my mobile.

Found it on YouTube based on knotty's instructions :
