I try to head off the problem at the pass by takinga solo walk into the woods prior to shut eye time. Although the older I get the more often I still need to get up at least once per night. In such eventuality I just get up and wonder off in the woods stumbling like a drunk. Do my best Judge Ito impression. And stumble back, never really fully waking up.

Personally I never take the chance of an accident. In the winter time this can compromise your safety also. The risk is not worth the comfort. Get up and do your duty. If your man enough to camp in the winter, your man enough to get up and take a pee.

I have gone over the side once or twice. Better than getting up.

I get up and take of what needs to be taken care of.
The "good" view of it is how awesomely warm you are once you climb back in.

Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.
Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......
I peed when I read this!
There's no way I'm going to try to do my business from my hammock. I am simply not coordinated enough and I know what the outcome will be. After a short hike (about 2 steps) I take care of business and jump back in between my still warm quilts, and it just makes me appreciate, that much more, how wonderfully cozy a hammock is. Ahhhh...
