I might use my cam straps when paddle/camping but wouldn't carry a strap with a metal buckle on it in my backpack because of the extra weight. I use the Marlin Spike Hitch and make a toggle out of what ever is available...like a stick.

I have been using my old NRS kayak straps from ~1990 at home to hang my bridge. There hasn't been any issues and they work great. I would never carry them in a backpack though.

If you're worried, you could put a slippery half hitch behind the buckle to further stave off slipping.

Surely, God could have made a better way to sleep.
Surely, God never did.
I have similar straps and cut the buckle off.
There is a 2" loop where the buckle was attached. This is wide enuf that I can feed the strap thru the loop and then complete with a marlin spike.
Your loop looks too small to do that, but I would look at the Marlin Spike and consider a way to use that and get rid of the buckle.
No buckle failure.
Less weight.
No sharp metal edges in your pack.
Marlin Spike is super easy, but makes you look like you have bush craft.
