I have already made a version of this but want to try a second one. I noticed some of the wider materials and wonder if I should try for more width. If I just add six (or so) inches to the width of the rectangular piece would I have to make other changes? I suspect I'd have to add some width to the bug net as well? Thoughts?

Bug net would be off for sure. I did one that I scaled down for my son and used the xtrekker pin method and that worked just fine.

As far as sewing methods go here's a really helpful diagram that basically covers all the seams I used in my hammock. Thanks to Scott at DIY gear supply for hosting the image. I used the first two steps of the flat fell to attach my bugnet and the grosgrain method for the footbox/shelf attachment.

    Realc,

Welcome to the forum. At 5'6" you have lots of options. For example, instead of buying a full-length UQ, you might get by with a 3/4 length one because it will almost be full-length for you. It is in my case.

That 10 ft vs 11 hammock question is so personal though. I'm happy in the WarBonnet BlackBird and also in 11 ft hammocks. In "short", I haven't been unhappy with larger hammocks. The only problem I've had with a large, monster hammock, was the Hennessy Survivor (no longer sold). It was about 12 ft and I needed a GPS to find my way out of it. But it was comfortable.

I'd like to attempt to follow your build plans.
Sadly, the measurements are only provided in imperial. Since I'm located in Europe, imperial values are non-intuitive for me to work with.

@TheXringHunt would you be able to share the original files you used to generate the patterns (if you still have access to them)? Editing PDFs is a major pita.
If you could export your patterns to a CAD file format like *.3mf or similar would make it so much easier for the community to build on your work.

Strangely, I can't edit my previous post.
Since the pattern hasn't been labeled, I'm unclear what the following view on page 1 is supposed to display:

    image.jpg

Is this a side-view on the hammock?

Ok. So I went ahead and replicated @TheXringHunts design in Fusion360.
I'm still unclear what the part in my previous post is supposed to be. I suspect it's the reinforcement that goes in between the footbox and the side-panel.

I based the sketch on the 10ft design.
While replicating the design, I noticed that the dimensions for the bugnet seem to be inexact. Fusion360 automatically derives dimensions for parts of the geometry where no dimensions were provided, once sufficient constraining dimensions have been defined.
It seems there are some slight inaccuracies in the pattern. I suspect that they won't cause any issues when cut from fabric though.

After replicating the design, I realized that Fusion360 is not the optimal program for pattern design. The sketching process works great, but once it comes to exporting the pattern to pdf, things become less straightforward.

I'd be happy to help convert the designs into the metric system.

I'm extremely curious what software you @TheXringHunts used to draft your pattern.
