    NX 250 ridge line conversion

Followed RAW design almost identically. Thanks RAW for the pics in that post and the accompanying exposition.

The rigeline does actually achieve something for my purposes even in the nx 250. What the ridgeline does is help me sleep on my side more comfortably.

The ridgeline is very long, for now. Hard to see how else to clear the nx 250 superstructure and get the lean sag I would like without going far out from the ends of the hammock. Need 18-20 feet between trees minimum now.

This is my first new thread so hoping the pictures are going to show up for people to see.

Let me know what ya think.

How Does the bed of the Hammock change, using the ridge line,
in order that you can side sleep ? ? ?

Are there other advantages to the ridge line ? ? ?

If the trees were closer together could you place your straps high up the tree, or are you as high as you can reach ? ? ?

    Thanks for posting this.

Aha Bradley hello. My next project is pocket quilts for the nx250. I have some climashield on the way from OWF. Will be drawing heavily on your posted experience.

For me the main advantage of the ridgeline is to be a set point for the sag. The hammock bed shape that suites me is attainable with or without the ridgeline. Although I only have one hang with the new suspension on which to base my thoughts so I may have more to add on the subject in the future.

The ridgeline does speed up set up. Just cinch up until the ridgeline is taught and get in. So the ridgeline is simply there to save my favorite geometry for repeated future use. It's also has potential as part of the rainfly or other accessory support function.

Bradley I will try crafty ways to accommodate the long ridgeline and report back.

    Hey Mjlk
    Thanks for that . . .
Also just a note on the pocket pads . . .
I am finding that when they are made thick enough that they fill the pockets,
Velcro is not necessary, as they puff up enough to fill
    . . . just a thought.

Ok good tip and that makes sense. Will be generous with the insulation and build in a 2 inch loft.

BTW I did a 180 on the ridgeline. So far I cannot figure out how to hang a nx-250 from trees 20ft apart and not scrape the ground unless I take a ladder into the woods. Just lack of experience on my part.

Nice idea but the utility of being able to quickly hang between trees 10-12 feet apart and be 2 feet off the ground fully loaded with minimal adjusting is just too attractive. Keeping the rings and webbing though.

Ah after a little agonizing over the nx-250, surely the swankiest of the hammocks and filled with features that make it adaptable to all kinds of weather out of the box. I have to concede that I do better with a diagonal lie.
