I think I'll add a small 'biner to the entry side tie out, between the shock cord and the ring. It's a bit more weight, I know, but I never worry too much about that anyway. Thanks for all the great replies and ideas everyone! :-)

I guess I don't quite see the point of the quick disconnect. Unhooking for breakfast in the hammock makes sense I suppose for those cold winter mornings, but you will still need to get out to re-hook it since the tie out will have fallen to the ground. I don't think is is a big hassle to get up and unhook it from the tie out stake. It is just looped over.
weaver - The quck release is most useful to me when I have to enter from the head end. As I bend over to go under the tarp, I can just unhook the tie out, sit in the hammock, then reach down, pick it up and re-hook it. Often the stake end of the tie out is outside the tarp, so to unhook at the stake I would have to get down on all fours to reach it. This way I stay a bit cleaner and it is just easier.
It really is just a convenience. One could just pull up on the shock cord and go under, but I always worry that I'll tear it or pull it off the stake or something.
So I made this little improvement and my hammock experience is just a bit better.
