I used it underneath the BA. I figured it would be better served as the barrior and the BA as the insulator. Alsomore comfortable to lay on vs. the CCF.
Well, if you've got the BA pad and are gonna add a CCF . . .
Has anyone gone with their Sleeping Giant upgrade?
Memory Foam pad that goes AROUND your inflatable pad.
Seems like it'd be awfully bulky to me, but . . .
Yep, it's a BigAgnes product.
I often wish I did have my BA Pad with me but it weighs 2 whole pounds...... Can't bring myself to adding it to my pack.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.
I use the BA AirCore (non-insulated version) in my HH and it is very comfortable. I do not fully inflate it and it is much more comfortable that way. I also use a BA sleeping bag which is designed for the pad to slip into a I usually toss my fleece jacket and extra long-sleeve shirt into the HH and lay them alongside my upper torso for a bit of extra insulation along the sides. sleeve on the bottom of the bag so the two become one unit. No slipping off the pad. When it is going to be cool I carry a 20" wide 1/4" ccf pad which slides into the sleeve along with the AirCore pad. I put it on the top side of the pad. This combo keeps me comfortable and warm down to mid-30s.
For those using the Big Agness (BA) pad, I'm gathering that you got the mummy version? and how does that fit inside the hammock? I've got a double wide eno and a 24" wide el'cheapo thermorest which scoots over to one side or the other, and sticks out far enough to push out on my speer winter tarp (swt) when it's pulled to a steep pitch.
..... wow, and there's sooooooo many BA pads to choose from, and even more bags it seems ..... how's one to choose? .... and their not at all cheap, are they?!
and so far, I haven't seen any pics of the pad and bag packed up and I'm wondering if I'm gonna have much of a size and weight savings by going the Big Agnes route
I already had the rectangular bag and pads from my tent camping days .. . so that's what I'm still using.
But if I was buying new . . . I'd go mummy and probably down-fill instead of synthetic
Just make sure your pad and bag sizes match . . . and you're good.
My bag is the Encampment 78"x20", and my pad is the DualCore 78"x20"x2.5".
It's not the lightest of combinations at 6.25 lbs total.
But for now, most of my camping is while motorcycling.
As I said, I'd like to get the mummy stuff (and I think I'd be fine in the 72" regular length; I mainly got the long for the extra shoulder girth), but . . . I've already got 2 pads to fit my rectangular bag.
