weather channel just now said the storm is 430 miles wide. And it can grow more even.

Weather Channel just said that this may end up the worst hurricane that the east coast has ever experienced.

We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.
Bomb up, stock up and hunker down. Preferably in a cellar.
One thing is for sure,,you won't have to worry about needing or searching for water,,however,,might be salty..

I had this discussion with my sons last night.
We live no where near any of this...but in the event of a massive storm system/whatever...our camping gear doubles as our bugout bags, the food I've been dehydrating for camping becomes emergency rations, and it all fits into our backpacks/waistpacks. Odds are...if we were in the bad zone on this one...we'd be watching the news from an evacuation shelter...possibly hanging if there was a good spot rather than taking up a cot I don't need.
My hammock/tarp would definitely be in my backpack omw out the door. But it wouldn't be setup anyplace close watching the storm come in for sure.
All six computer models now have the track of hurricane Irene going straight over my house on the Outer Banks.
Three days water - check
Food - check
Candles/flashlights - check
Emergency gear - check
Outdoor furniture stowed - check
It's all over except the waiting ... now the boring part begins (and, no, I won't be hanging out in my hammock during this one)

Times like this are what a bug-out-bag is for. Take the advice of those who are telling you to flee. Good luck, best wishes to you and all you have. everything we hear on the news is dire warnings. This evil wind is nothing to trifle with. If you're thinking of hanging in a hurricane, do it 500 miles away. Minimum.
