    I beg to differ.

    In our experience, an Insultex quilt compresses as much as a down quilt.

    Cheap, light, and compressible.....

    That's a 2nd hand down sleeping bag from Goodwill or similar converted to an UQ or TQ. It's only cheap because someone else took the wallet hit for it new.

    Actually I would change that slightly and say:

    Light, compressible, warm, cheap. Pick any 3.

    Eg. Climashield - light, warm, cheap but not very compressible
    Down - light, warm, compressible but not very cheap (at least 800-900FP)
    Insultex - light, cheap, many layers is warm, not very compressible

    and so it goes.

    Used down sleeping bag of reputable manufacture on Ebay...

    Paid $45 for an older REI Bag... weighed about 3-4# before I modified it into a TQ.

    I washed it with some Nikwash, total investment (including nikwash) $50.
