You got me to thinking... If that's all Water Mgt. District land, is it possible to drift downriver in a pack-raft and hike back to the starting point.
Hmmmmm.... Inquiring minds want to know!

We did see a couple of mountain bikers come through the sight. I took a short hike to see if there was a trail to the 47 Bridge Park area. There isn't an established trail, but there are a few animal trails you can follow. The underbrush is minimal, not many palmettos at all.
The problem would be that it's just not considered a good idea to park overnight at the 47 bridge. Seeing what they did to the picnic area, I can understand why.
Thanks Gumbo and Timberrrr for the great time! You all being great hosts made my wifes' first time sleeping in a hammock a pleasurable experience! Food was great and the spot on the river is perfect. Nice to meet Duffy and JohnnyWalker and watch them fish. It was nice to meet Duffy's better half and the other couple that came for the paddle. When I get a chance I will post some of the pics we took. Can't wait to do this again! Wife liked the river so much, she wanted to paddle some more before we really had to leave!
Looking forward to seeing your pics Richtorfla. I wish my camera battery had held out longer!
Suzie is a gem! I hope we have the chance to hang again sometime soon!
Sounds like y'all had just too much fun on the Santa Fe. The hanging sites looked terrific !! Glad to hear the skeeters stayed away. My wife and I paddled on the Chassawitzka recently. You cannot beat having springs to jump into and paddle on this time of year. It is the only way to go. My real question is who carried the Dutch oven to cook in? Any Woodsman's Breakfast this time? Looking forward to getting together after the first cold/cool front in a month or so. We'll keep in touch.
Many thanks to Gumbo and Timberr for planning this trip. It was simply wonderful. The pictures of the river are beautiful, but they don't quite do justice to the crystal clear, deliciously cool water. (Or the interesting but un-interested fish!)
Summer camping in Fla? Who knew!!
Since I had to bail on this trip I'm hoping to put something together for the weekend of the 9th (weekend after Labor Day). Gumbo's description of the campsite sounded way too cool. This will be more paddling and less base camping. Probably from US-27 to US-129 over three days, about 23 miles. Anyone interested??
I uploaded a few more pictures from our Santa Fe trip in the following album for anyone interested in taking a peek at them.
