    adjustable webbing straps question

I've always used whoopie slings so I have a quick question regarding the adjustable straps. In a video on their website, its suggested to use a caribiner connected to the loop and the webbing, wrap it around the tree and then attach it to the webbing via the biner. How strong does the biner need to be? Does it need to be climbing rated or will any old biner work?

I have read from others on this board that you need climbing rated, but I'm not an expert. Just to be safe, I went with Camp nano 23s. Super light and work great.

Climbing rated biner unless you want your butt on the ground. OR just a the Dutch Clips, they hold my 280 lbs with no problem

I think the ones I got from Warbonnet were rated to 1000 pounds, IIRC.

Oh yeah make sure the biners are climbing grade or get yourself some Dutch clips from Jacks`R`Better.

Biners from reputable hammock vendors like ENO and Warbonnet are not climbing rated but are strong enough for the vendors to sell them. Under no circumstances use biners from non-hammock sources unless they are climbing rated. Keychains do not make good safety equipment. I don't care what is stamped on them.

I use either nacabiners or the previously mentioned Nano biners.
