    Hidden Lake Trip

I have this idea in my head of a trip that I would like to take. I just don't know where it is but I know it has to exist. What I want to do is backpack into a lake and setup a base camp, stay put right there for 3 days or so. Take small day trips or maybe do some fishing. Most of just relax and enjoy the wilderness. I want this lake to be isolated and only accessible by hiking to it. Does anyone know of such a place?

Of course the closer to Louisiana the better and would anyone be interested in making the trip with me?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This is exactly what I want to do. I'd like to find a place within 2 hrs. from Baton Rouge, but I'm having a hard time finding such...Are you still planning this?

I know of about a bazillion places that exactly fit that description. Unfortunately, none are near LA or MS.

Now I know of a nice river you can hike into and base camp in AL, with lots of waterfalls if it has been raining at all.

This sounds beautiful too...I'll have to find some time to make a trip out there

I would imagine there's a farm pond somewhere near you that would match that description. It might not require a hike, but you'd probably be the only one you see there. I imagine the fishing is probably better there too.

Do a little recon on Google Earth and see what you can find pond or lake. Then check out property tax records for the owners contact info and get permission to camp / fish.
