    1.9 gpf Kevlar straps

I have not been able to find the 1.9 gpf Kevlar straps anymore. Does anyone know someone that offers them? Also, is there a reason people quit using them? We have had no troubles with the two sets we have. I just wanted to get a set for my backup hammock.

Kevlar 1.9 and 3.3 have been out of stock everywhere for some time now.

I've googled and duckduckgoed it to death and cannot find any info as to why, although it coincides with Covid and most kinds of webbing with those specs are made in China so likely there's some production/shipping explanation. There's USA made Kevlar but I've not found any with hammock-specific spec and it's very expensive.

Autumn Ultralight (Anne Marie) used to have the 1.9s but I did not see them back on her website after this. I did buy a pair from her just in the nick of time, however, and have had no problems with them.

Anyone know the thickness of the 1.9 and 3.3 straps? I'm considering chancing a direct purchase from China but they offer 0.6mm, 1mm, 1.8mm, 2mm, 3mm and all the way up to 6mm thickness. My guess would be 2 or 3mm but I've not been able to try the real McCoy due to the ongoing supply issues.

    The 1.9 measure 0.0155" using a caliper or 0.4mm.

Wow, that's a lot thinner than I thought. Appreciate the measurement!

Hello. Anne Marie from Autumn Ultralight.

I used to carry the 1.9 kevlar but I had two random breaks occur with the webbing. It happened with people in the 180-200 lb region and the webbing broke in the middle. Not near the stitching and the webbing wasn't very old and hadn't been in use for very long....

Im not sure why this happened as it's rated for 1500 lbs tensile from the manufacturer. Perhaps it was just a bad spot on the roll? Either way this has made me no longer trust that webbing and I stopped selling it.

Right now I offer a 3 gram per foot Dyneema webbing that is a real workhorse. I've been hanging on the same pair for a couple years now and it holds up very well.

You gain about an ounce over the kevlar with the Dyneema but for piece of mind and durability I think it is worth it.

    Thank you.

    Anne Marie
