    Lake District Overnighter

Warning, contains ground sleeping images, Mods feel free to move to ROT section if it's not appropriate.

I managed to squeeze a quick overnighter in one the my favourite valleys in the Lakes this weekend, not particularly strenuous but I wanted to get out under the stars and test some new kit. I've been getting back into the hills again this year so I've been slowly putting together some lightweight gear again after selling all my old stuff many years ago. The area we were visiting was originally two smaller lakes with villages surrounding them, in the 50's or 60's the whole valley was flooded to provide water via an aqueduct for Manchester around 70 miles away.
I met up with Tony around lunchtime on Saturday and took the easy 4.5 mile trail round to a stealthy camp site I knew about. I'm still not 100% and didn't fancy any big hills this weekend so I planned a nice flat route along the shoreline instead. We didn't get up to much apart from exploring the surroundings and chilling out around camp, we decided to have a fire later on so we went foraging for dead standing in one of the plantations nearby. We used an old fire scar and sat by the fire sipping Jura for an hour, by 11 o'clock we were both pretty knackered so called it a day.

Just thought I'd share the piccies with you guys.

My new Trailstar tarp shelter, with an annoyingly close young pine, I didn't have a clue how big the footprint was going to be

I've not seen the water as low as this for a long time, parts of the old village were starting to appear in places. It happens quite regularly I think but I always seem to miss it.

One of the local Reds had been down for a drink recently

A nice relaxed night under the stars, cheers for coming along Tony

    Beautiful area!
    Thanks for sharing!
    Two questions:
Why didn't you hang? Granted there were only two trees, but how many do you need?
    Okay, three questions...
    What is Jura?

Lol, I've been getting up in the hills a bit more this year, going up high means no trees normally over here. I suppose I just wanted to try the new shelter out but you're right, when I got there I wished I'd packed the BB

Jura is my favourite single malt, it just goes down so well sat next to a fire.

    Hey Shewie,
That would be Haweswater! I was there a couple of years ago, stealth hung in that heavily pined peninsula juting out in one of your pics. The water was high then, all that could be seen of the flooded villages was a steeple.

Glad to see pictures of the Lakes again, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
