The Sound Rain Makes on Different Tarps

I watched a video today taken from under a Cuben Fiber tarp when it was raining. I was surprised to hear how loud it was.

Silnylon tarps seems much quieter and would allow for more of the comforting sounds of rain, I would think.

It would be interesting to hear if anyone else gives this kind of thing some thought.

My cuben tarp is louder than the silnylon I have, but not so loud that it's bothersome. No worse than some of the shelter roofs I've heard in the past during a storm. It's actually rather soothing to me. I enjoy a good rain while in my hammock and under a tarp. Cuben or silnylon.

    Tarp Sounds

Thanks. I sometimes enjoy the rain while hammocking too.

I often look forward to those times while car camping or in the yard to sleep in the rain. Two weeks ago I was car camping in NH and it rained pretty much throughout the night.

Crazy question .. Does Cuban Fiber mist under extreme rain like Silnylon does/ just spent all night out in the rain and my Silnylon started to mist all over me. ? If it does not ... Then I am all for it!! No matter the sound.

if you're sleeping outside, in the rain, expect white noise.
same in a tarp, shelter, tent, on leaves....

each fabric has its own resonance though.

Cuben does not mist. It is 100% waterproof its fiber reinforced plastic, although very high tech.
