I'm hoping a cold front makes it up here to Chicagoland. I've been hiding indoors this past week due to the heat and mosquitoes (I'm allergic to Mozzies). I keep going out on the deck to hang a hammock and read for a bit, but come in 5 minutes later all bit up and soaking wet. NO FUN!

I'm in the same boat as you, Lonely Raven. I keep trying to hang the hammock in the backyard to test out some modifications, but the heat and humidity is just too oppressive.

    I can't wait til autumn!

We've had 8 days without rain here in northern Alberta so far this summer. Been trying to go out for the last 5 Saturdays for a quick overniter but the weather has been so crappy. Bound and determined to go tonight despite the thunder and lightning and rain thru the night. Temps at night have been around 60 and daytime about 75.

Funny thing . . . Back in the late 80's maybe '88, in Alberta

we had 3 days where there was no precipitation at all . . .

no significant rain in W. Tx. for months and months. the upside? no skeeters.

I think you need to start praying for skeeters and quit praying for rain..maybe it will rain then. I feel for ya's down there having such a dry year..I know the farmers and cattlemen are really hurting.

Actually saw that on the news. A towns water is nearly depleted and they were connecting a pipeline to a neighboring town 12 miles away. Feel bad for the farmers and ranchers.
