You could also take a cut of CF pad or similar material pad for your lower legs and feet.

if i were long-hiking... a 3S phoenix and a pad- minimal gossamer gear torso type pad- would be my choice. you have a lot of options with that setup:

-additional warmth in the hmmk with pad/uq combo
-foot insulator to complete 3/4 phoenix uq
-"oh crap go-to-ground" insulator with the torso pad
-if its real cold- you could rig the phoenix uq somehow to serve as additional worn insulation- stormcrow reported this after his AT section hike this spring

On the AT with a March start date you will only need the Phoenix underneath. Setup a friend who is thru-ing as we speak (currently finishing VT) and she started March 7th using a Phoenix and was perfectly snug/warm; and she's still using it.
I'd still carry a 1/4inch ccf for insurance and other uses.
I forgot which No Sniveler you have-STELLAR piece of kit-and if you carry a camp jacket when coupled with the No Sniveler you can hit seriously low temps. I have the Stealth No Sniveler and love it. Like Doctari said it can even eliminate the need for a camp jacket but I always carry at least a Thermawrap Parka, well just because.

I'd only take just a pheonix if I were an extremely warm sleeper, which I'm not at all. If I was going to take just an uq I'd take a full length 3 season uq - which would probably work for any temps you'd run into.

If I could get away with just taking the pheonix I'd be the happiest person alive! Jealous.

Fortunately you have several months for 'shakedown' hikes and gear testing weekend trips.

Medicine man-the no sniveller and sierra stealth are two separate TQ's. the no sniveller has a rating between 25-30 and the stealth between 40-45 (according to jacksrbetter). That being said if I were to have my 3/4's zlite and no sniveller which UQ would be best to complete the trio? I just checked out the yeti and of course there is the phoenix but there is the summer and three season versions of the phoenix so now i'm overwhelmed with options. I am weight conscious, but I don't want to freeze my tail off! Mid march is the earliest I'll start btw, I really appreciate your help guys!!

i say get a UQ and use the No Sniv as your TQ ... you will be much better off if you ask me
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
