    Hi from Upstate NY

Have owned a Hennessey Expedition Asym (looks like they call it a classic for the bottom entry now) for about 5 years. I have used it in off/on depending on the time of the year and where we are going camping. I have used it several times this summer up in the Adirondacks with a Western Mountaineering 40 degree down bag and several of the nights it went into the 50's and I was cold. Would like to start using this as my primary shelter at least late Spring to early Fall, but need to learn how to make increase the temperature range to accomodate these colder nights. Not quite ready to pull the trigger on an under quilt (would be in need of two if I go that route as I have my wife hooked on these now as well). Anyway, looking forward to browsing through everyones information and comments.

Welcome to the forum from the other end of the state.

Insulation for a bottom entry is tricky. But try a closed cell foam pad (ccf). If that doesn't work try http://www.2qzqhammockhanger.com/page18.html . They have a zipper modification that will eliminate the bottom entry and on bug free days you can unzip the bug net.

That is a nice hike. If you can swing the extra mileage, tack on a few extra miles to go to the 5 ponds, (Big Shallow, etc...)

Welcome aboard! I grew up in Watertown NY, moved down here in '93. Gotta get back up there sometime and explore the trails of the Finger lakes.
