I would take the 15F Marmot bag and stuff the Clark pockets with crumpled space blankets-- the cheapest ones you can find. I haven't done it on a Clark, so I don't know the capacity of the pockets, but I expect you can fill them all with 2-3 blankets cut into sections. Crumple them up to create lots of dead air space. Maybe add a pad for your feet and lower legs. Cheap space blankets are about 2.5oz each and you can use them over and over. If you can afford the Z-liner, it strikes me as a well coordinated system. You can supplement the Clark pads with more insulation too.
I'm sure it can be done, but a partial under quilt seems a waste with a Clark and all those hand-dandy pockets. I could see a full underquilt in really cold weather and you could still insulate the pockets.
There's a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaGZH...layer_embedded showing the Clark Z-liner install and some DIY pads that Bradley St. John made (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...t=33680&page=2)
If you are a cold sleeper, definitely consider working more clothing into your sleep system. I like Power Stretch long johns and tops for sleep. They rock under rain gear or wind pants too. Patagonia Capilene 4 is about the same. The budget version is just 100w fleece. A beanie cap, good socks, and glove liners will take you a long way. Wearing more clothing for sleep gets best use from all your gear. If you are cold and have a fat down jacket, you better be wearing it! It's not a fashion show Many ultralight hikers wear everything possible to bed, allowing the lightest bag or quilt and getting maximum use from their gear.

Don't forget about windchill...windy at the higher elevations,,and last yr, on Aug, 19th,,snowed on me at 11 plus K ft camped out in RMNP back country on Aug 19th or so.
I would suggest looking at a few other quilts besides the zliner also. Hammock gears phoenix fits between the spreader bars on my nx150 perfectly. If you run the suspension between the bars and hold out tabs it keeps the quilt firmly against your backside so there are no gaps. Just another option.
+1 on the underquilt...my $.02 is to order sooner than later and let whomever you buy from that you have a trip planned so they can accomodate you....your timeframe may be more limited than you think!!!!
Man, I think the Under Quilt is probably the best option but it seems I just keep spending money on top of money to get what works best lol. I have 5 weeks before I leave so I am considering what to do. Someone mentioned the (Hammock gears Phoenix) any others I should consider? thanks for all of your time guys.
i would maybe look at leigh's summer UQ (at $120) and then just plan on using your existing pad with it. then when you get back to texas, you can still use that UQ and it won't be too hot
I didn't beleive the others till I tried . . .
but sleeping in down, in my hammock
and my back got cold when my top side was boiling hot.
I think your solution, use one down bag to sleep in or as an over quilt . . .
Cut the other one up to fit/fill the pockets of your Clark NX-250.
Now your torque-in . . .
you'd be toasty warm . . . IMO

Go with a Summer Burrow or Warbonnet underquilt, if you don't like it, you can sell it on here in no time flat.
