    Claytor mods

just because my Claytor was awesome from the get-go doesnt mean that I didnt tweak it anyway!
    here's what I did:
added 1" polyprop webbing in place of the stock ropes.
sewed on a webbing loop to the hang straps.
got me some JrB "tri-glides" for the ease of setup.
    added a Spectra structural ridgeline
changed out the stock netting string for some elastic cording, with glove hooks for the ridgeline.
made some 1/8 aluminum rod spreader bars for the mesh ceiling.
here's a glimpse, hope you enjoy!

JrB tri glides on webbing straps

side showing new ridgeline, netting suspension

looking down the length of ridge

I'll be testing it in the real world asap. so far, so good. The ridge tightens up nicely when lying inside, and the JrB quilt attaches just right. My MacCat tarp is still in transit but Im hoping to add glove hooks to the tarp with Prusik knots to the ridgeline for a nice taught pitch.

It will be hard to keep the tarp taut doing it this way. You probably need at least one line going to the tree. You may also need to lower the ridgeline closer to the netting to allow better coverage from the tarp when the weather calls for a storm pitch. I have a Clark that I have a ridgeline on. I had the same idea of attaching the tarp to the ridgeline but could not keep it tight and went back to both ends going to the tree.

Good luck on your first hang and from the looks of the pictures weather really isn't an issue there!

I like the use of the ridgeline for suspending the netting. It could also be used for hanging all sorts of other doodads. Make sure you have some sort of drip line for when it rains.

That's a very nice looking setup.

You will need that UQ and plus maybe a pad in the pocket if you get up into the White Mountains or the Mogollon Rim or up in the San Fran Peaks around Flagstaff in all but the middle of summer. Boy I miss that country! Looks like a great set up.
