buying one of these AMK things (maybe a SOL one?) and some 7.5 climbashield for two layers of batting and a mylar blanket for in between them, and some serious tape of some sort.. without baffling, without sewing through any layers....this place is a never ending pool of R&D and ideas and i love it.

EDIT: AMK makes the SOL i was envisioning lol

One thing that I have been thinking about trying, is substituting THIS for the mylar space blanket.

Of course, I plan on buying this to install in my attic, therefore cost would essentially be towards that project, but the idea of having heat reflected, while using a permeable material would help with the condensation issue.

lemme know how that works out for you, seems like its pretty much the same thing as a mylar blanket except maybe tougher. i haven't put hands on one of those amk sol things, but they're permeable as well so im betting its nearly the same. the house stuff is probably much tougher, the description says it cannot be ripped. if it beats that mylar blanket, i'll spring for a sheet from you.

c0de...Did you ever create something with the RadiantGuard? I'm curious to know how it performs in various temperatures.

Yeah i'll still spring for a 10' sheet from you if it worked out great. The condensation from the mylar in my pluq (even with a fleece 8 layer between the pluq and the hammock) i feel soggy all night, that permeable house barrier stuff is still on my list of stuff to boost from a construction site

Was just reading about some of this over at the Hennessy website on "Cold Weather Camping."
It talks about their research on radiant barriers and the need for dead space between the person and the radiant barrier.
