Hanger to be out here West Texas

Have recently decided that I wanted to turn some of my day hikes into overnighters but didn't want to sleep on the ground. So, of course, I came across this awesome forum!

I look forward to learning from this forum and the many knowledgeable people here as I get into this hangin' thang.

I have to admit that I came to looking at hammocks a little reluctantly as I live out here in the middle of the desert... Ok... I live where the trees are few and far between. But I am sure with the help of the fine people here (including Shug ), I'll be able to figure something out.

Thanks for having me, although I am, like Grocho Marx, a little concerned about a group that would have me!

Welcome aboard from Florida. If you want to hang you'll find away.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

I am certainly open to suggestions for hanging in a desert setting! :-)

I guess I'll just have to go where the trees are.

Welcome from a former west-Texan. I was raised in Big Spring and Sand Springs. I now live south of Dallas. You are right about there not being many trees in that area. Check the forums for hammock stands. There are several ideas for portable stands that you can adapt for your area. Have a good time here at the forum.

Several folks here have adapted their suspension to climbing hardware; nuts, choks (?) and so forth- now all you need is a gap between 2 rocks...and try not to hang across a game trail!
KM(who knows there are more rocks in WTX than trees) just trying to help...
