Correct material for an under quilt?

Is it necessary to use a coated or a uncoated material for the quilt? Isn't it important to use a breathable material to prevent moister from building up? do you have to use 1.1 sil ripstop or can you use 1.9 with the added weight? I'm not so worried about the weight difference if I can use the 1.9 if possible.

    1.1 ripstop will work.

I generally use 1.1oz nylon. If your using down, make sure it is a down proof fabric. They will usually say it's calendered fabric for down proofness.

Some people have had problems with condensation when using silnylon. All my quilts use 1.1 ounce ripstop.
