    Tree hugger belt idea

I had a thought the other day, why not make a belt out of/that doubles as a spare tree hugger?
Just using poly webbing and some descending rings, if in need the rings could also be used or depended on, could also be used as an extension for bigger tree's (which we have lots of here), fully adjustable and no sharp edges if sleep in cloths.

Unfortunately i've searched EVERYWHERE where I live and descending rings don't seem to be an Aus product (go figure), so i'll have to start to figure else what else I want while I'm at it

I was going to post this in the clothing sub forum but on proof read I opted to post here, mod's feel free to move if necessary.

I did just that using the Camo 1.5" straps from DIYgearsupply and a couple steel O rings from Lowes. Made myself a belt. Not that I'd trust the stitching to hold my weight. The thread injector didn't like injecting threading thru three layers of webbing.
If you don't try due to fear of failure you've already failed due to fear.

I have access to a pretty good thread injector now, I contracted an ex tailor (ok... my mum) to sew up my current tree huggers and they are holding up well

I made one last year with this sewn in on one loop end.
It just moves to the side in the loop , when used as a tree hugger .

I guess you could use something like this there was a link for a weight bearing version on here recently or that aswell.

Used a Jersey ( round head) needle and made 4 rows of bar tack .
The belt is a bit long but i have a little o ring on it so i can loop back the tail from a belt loop to be held by the o ring .

I have the lightweight/non-climbing version of the Bison. Google "rigger's belt" and you'll get all kinds of hits.

I like where this is going, but rather than a belt, why not use the extra strap(s) as a backpack lashing or tiedown?

If you're using the belt to hold your pants up, what happens when you want to use it for your hammock?
Dutch: Hammock is probably more weight but who wants to lay on the ground? I pee on the ground.
