Great, thanks for the picture, that will help. I'll probably run in there tonight and see if they have any. Can't really beat the price and performance. Now I need to figure out what to do about a tarp, but that's another forum

To get you by for now, pick up a blue poly tarp at Wal-Mart while you're there. Then when you have time, agonize over getting the "right one" from one of the vendors on here.
If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

Thanks for the suggestion....I have a footprint from a 4 person tent. I am wondering if that will be large enough to work for my first outing. I'm actually still in the waiting queue to get my hammock, being in Fort Collins, Brandon was nice enough to refund the shipping charge and let me pick it up personally. I can test out the footprint then and see if I need something bigger. I have a suspicion that a 4 person footprint might be a bit on the small side.

Do you have the dimensions for your footprint? I suspect it is a rectangle, so it's likely about 6'x8' or 8'x8'. I made do with a 6'x8' WM tarp until I bought my Warbonnet BMJ, but I only actually needed it in the rain once. It is adequate, but you won't have much kitchen/gear space. It will also be 3x as heavy and 5x as large in the pack as a real backpacking tarp, but it will get the job done.

Enjoy the process of upgrading. It looks like you are about where I was 6 months ago.

WM pad ---> DIY SPE (from WM pads) ---> Hammock Gear Incubator (ahhhhh )

WM 6'x8' tarp + cargo straps ---> Warbonnet BMJ + cargo straps ---> Warbonnet BMJ + whoopieslings.com Single Ridgeline

ENO Single Nest ---> Warbonnet Blackbird 1.7 DL ----> (there is no further upgrade possible )

Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."
