Hung up my HH Exped for the 1st time . . .

    . . . and I have a question:

What are the little hooks on the corners of the standard, asym. rainfly for?

I got the hammock used, so it was already initially set up. Even with n00b fumbling, I was able to hang it up in my yard in five minutes - piece of cake! I experimented with lying in different positions and it seems most flat, roomy and comfortable if I am on my left side in a loosely fetal position.

I can't figure out a purpose for those hooks, though.

I plan to take it along on a motorcycle camping trip to NH next week - looking forward to using it!

you can put your shock cord tie-outs from your hammock thru them, they will help tentsion your tarp. You can also use them to hang empty water bottle off of them in the rain to collect rain water, and to tension your tarp as the bottle fill. (I have never tried this method, but I do run my tie-outs thru the clips)

Or hang a stuff sack filled with sand/dirt, which will become even heavier if it rains. Greatly cuts down on how much the tarp flaps from becoming loose after you lay in the hammock. Or loose from rain or temp changes, which Sil-nylon often does.

When I was still using the stock tarp with my Hennessy, I doubled the shock-cord hammock tie-outs back on themselves and would just slip the loop into the hooks on the tarp, thus eliminating two stakes and making set-up quicker and easier. Guess I'm a lazy camper.
