Insulation and a Chair!!!

That's all I need!!! I went for my first hammock over-nighter and and alone to boot... I was a little nervous to say the least. After I set up my WBBB with Superfly I looked around to sit down and nothing but the ground... I really don't like sitting on the ground after a hike so I need a chair. I'm thinking the Sling-Lite Chair, it's light, seems comfortable and can easily strap to my pack.

Then around 2 am the temp dropped from 94 degrees to 65 and man it was a little too cold for my 55 degree REI travel sack. Actually it was my back that was the coldest and wiggling around trying to wrap up in it was frustrating. I think I would have been fine if I had an underquilt so I that is the second thing on my list, and my choice is: Hammock Gear Summer Phoenix and Summer Burrow, they are good to 35 degrees which I am sure is plenty because I doubt I will be out in anything below 35... Plus they are reasonably priced and good quality.

So on my "Things I really need" list are 1) the Summer Phoenix and Burrow, and 2) a Sling-lite chair.

If anyone wants to get rid of one or if you have other suggestions that may help my hammocking endeavor please let me know.

True, it really does and my favorite seating position is in Indian position. Man it is comfortable but when I want to cook, eat or sit around a campfire with everyone I want to do it away from the hammock, bears!!!

Plus the other night when I got out there by myself I had deployed the tarp from the snakeskins and I did not want to sit in it there without seeing what was going on around me.

I guess after a few trips I wont get so freaked out...

Why don't you try adding a foot line? I LOVE having a foot line on my hammocks. You can sit/recline (without taking off your boots) and it's crazy comfortable for practically no weight penalty.

as far as a chair check out the alite butterfly chair they are light weight and get your bottom off the ground

Tried the Alite this past weekend ~that Grizz is a baaaaad influence~.
Compared to the sling chair it is not as comfortable but it is WAY more packable.
I'd say potential durability between the two is even steven.
In the sling-lite you can sit without effort. You will expend some energy maintaining the balance point on the two legs.
If you go with the sling-lite leave the headrest at home.
Agreed when with a group you'll want to buddy up around the fire which you dont want near you 'mock or down goodnesses.
I tried and tried to get a company to fabricate the sling-lite out of carbon but to no avail..they could not be tempted financially but in theory it could weigh 8 ounces in the right material--and I still believe it would make an adaquate pack frame using cylinders like Luxurylite Gear uses.
I do plan to use the Alite a few more times, once seated you adjust quickly.
Be nice to attach it to the pack during the misty rains in a way that it shrouds your head.

I love my new Alite chair. You can sit in it upright or reclined, which makes it more versatile than I first thought. I also like my Jacks-R-Better camp stool, nice and light, simple and reliable... just not a recliner!

Tree to Tree Trail Gear makes the Molly Mac Gear 5-in-1 Jerry Chair, which is a 3/4 IX UQ, that can be used as a Jerry Chair, ground cover, pack cover, or gear hammock. It's not on their web site yet, but I bet they will make it if you contact them. (Otherwise, contact me...)

Thanks for the info guys but I did end up getting an Alite butterfly and love it!!! I have to agree with all the comments said above about it's greatness. One thing I would like to add is that it is virtually effortless to maintain balance in it. That is one of the best buys I have made.
Also I got the HG burrow and phoenix underquilt so I am now a happy hammocker...
