i find that our local w.marine store has 1/8" amsteel on the shelve, and 7/64ths is available on special order...i'm not a fan of waiting! also the slightly larger dia makes creating splices a bit easyer, and adjusting in the field as well.( all just my personal bias- youre results may vary...yatta, yatta, yatta)

If you are buying local, even if the vendor won't match the already low price from Redden Marine, they may lower a much higher price. Especially when you what you want is a lighter, less expensive cord than what they have on hand.

Amsteel Blue cost and price is pretty much proportional to weight of yarn (which is proportional to the square of the real diameter).

wasn't really worrying about the price...now, i would most probably work at getting a lower price on a car, but rope?! forgetaboutit!...just saw no point in ordering.. and besides, i like the "hand" of the larger line

If you have 1/8th available, I'd go for it. It's not that much heavier, and on big guys (and boys), I think it would be a better bet. That's what I use for the UCRs I use as part of my ring buckle suspension. I'm in the 240s. I do use 7/64 for my SRL.
