    Okay

What weighs more.... a pound or feathers or a pound of lead?

So is this an ounce of weight or an ounce of volume?

how many "ounces" can i expect to use in a 4'x4' UQ with 9 baffles?
Or maybe I should ask this:
How much volume can I expect to get out of one ounce of down?

    @ Convert2010,
I think this would be 1 oz in weight. So 1 oz (in weight) of "900fp" will fill 900 ci of volume. Thus the higher the number, the smaller/finer the individual down feathers are. Therefore being lighter weight per volume and also being able to compress to a smaller space.

So, if my math is right.

    my 4' x 4' UQ is

    48" x 48" x 2" (of loft) = 4608ci
    so... I will need:
    4608 / 900 = 5.12oz of down

The math is right, I bet that will net you a UQ thats less than 16oz.

Don't forget to account for the "bulging" of the quilt. It's sometimes referred to as overstuff.
